Roam was founded by Dr. Tim Swift in 2013, with the dream of developing lightweight, low-cost, wearable robotic devices that can be easily integrated into everyday life. Roam’s proprietary technology generates an unmatched power-to-weight ratio, utilizes scalable manufacturing techniques and harnesses innovative AI-informed robotics to restore and expand the boundaries of human mobility.
To date, Roam has raised some $12 million in funding over two rounds.
2. Dexai Robotics
Dexai Robotics, founded by David Johnson and Anthony Tayoun in 2018, aims to revolutionize the food industry by improving the lives of kitchen staff everywhere, enabling them to focus on what matters: creating amazing culinary experiences for customers. Dexai’s collaborative robot, Alfred, offers an affordable, fast, and accurate kitchen addition to autonomously prepare delicious recipes.
With headquarters in the Greater Boston Area, Massachusetts, Dexai has raised a total of $5.5 million in funding over two rounds since it was founded.
3. Civ Robotics
Civ Robotics is a construction tech startup aiming to revolutionize land surveying. Laying out coordinates has never been so simple and efficient thanks to our cutting-edge robotics mechanism and intuitive mission planner that ensures sub-inch accuracy of our markings.
Based in San Francisco, California, Civ was founded in 2018 by Tom Yeshurun and Liav Muller.
4. Hanson Robotics
Hanson Robotics is an AI and robotics company dedicated to creating socially intelligent machines that enrich the quality of our lives. Founded by David Hanson in 2013, the Hong Kong-based company is the creator of the world-famous Sophia the Robot.
Hanson’s innovations in AI research, robotics engineering, experiential design, storytelling and material science bring its robots to life as engaging characters, useful products and evolving AI.
The company has raised north of $20 million in funding over four rounds, fuelling innovations in AI research and development.
5. FORT Robotics
The final company in today’s list is FORT Robotics, founded by Samuel Reeves in 2018. Building a first-of-its-kind safety and security platform for smart machines, FORT’s mission is to unlock the full potential of automation by accelerating development, reducing risk, and building trust in autonomous systems.
Based in Philadelphia, FORT provides solutions for machines in a variety of industries, including warehousing, construction, agriculture, manufacturing, turf care, and last-mile delivery and has raised a total of $13 million in funding over one round.
