XRHealth, a Brookline, Massachusetts-based state-of-the-art therapeutic care company that runs virtual clinics that utilize proprietary FDA and CE registered medical Extended Reality (XR) technology (virtual and augmented reality), has announced the launch of a VR gaming program to assist with pain management in a partnership with ehealth company Reducept, a Dutch company that offers digital therapeutic solutions designed to help professionals treat chronic pain.

The program, which combines Reducept’s VR game and XRHealth’s novel technology, will employ a VR game designed by Reducept to aid in the training of a patient’s brain to deal with pain. Doing this will offer a gamified experience that targets behavioural experiments and techniques to address pain, and is based on acceptance and commitment therapy, as well as cognitive behavioural therapy to boost a patient’s overall health outcomes.

As the program will run on XRHealth’s VR technology, it will allow patients to measure and share their results in real-time so that any adjustment in therapy can be achieved. Another boon of using XRHealth’s technology is that it has the ability to capture analytics over time, leading to better and more reliable data collection.

“Virtual reality can provide a realistic and immersive experience for users to train their brain to gain control over their body and produce their own medication, potentially eliminating the dependency on drugs while providing the much necessary alleviation from the pain,” said Eran Orr, CEO of XRHealth. “Users feel empowered by the new-found control over their mind and the influence it has on their body.”
